Question 26

Is consistency of state and territory classification laws important, and, if so, how should it be promoted?

Respondents generally favoured a common national classification framework and consistency in laws among the states and territories. This is seen in the size and connectedness of the circles around ‘consistent’, ‘important’, ‘country’ and ‘wide’ at the left of the infograph. It was observed that differences between the states and territories create confusion among the public, with the links between ‘current’, ‘laws’, and ‘confusion’ in the middle of the infograph. There is also a large ‘yes’ response at the bottom right of the infograph, linked to ‘national’ and ‘scheme’. By contrast, the ‘no’ response at the top left is quite small.
