Vale Robert Alexander Hayes (1942-2011)

Dr Robert Alexander Hayes, previously a full-time Commissioner of the ALRC and Associate Professor of Law at UNSW and UWS, has died in Sydney after a long illness.

Dr. Hayes was a fellow of the Australian Institute of Forensic Sciences, former president of the Mental Health Appeals Tribunal and founder of the UNSW Faculty of Law.

Dr. Hayes was a principal author of the ALRC’s 1983 report on Privacy, and an active, congenial colleague in the ALRC. He was also a much admired law teacher.

A funeral will be held for Professor Robert Hayes on Friday, 25 November 2011 at 10.30am at St James Anglican Church, King Street. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Robert should be made to Senior Neuro Oncology Group (SNOG) Royal North Shore Hospital.
