RECORDING Inaugural Michael Kirby Lecture

On Monday 5 December 2022, the ALRC hosted the Inaugural Michael Kirby Lecture at the Federal Court of Australia in Melbourne. The 2022 keynote address was delivered by the Attorney-General of Australia, the Hon Mark Dreyfus KC MP.

The event also provided the opportunity to formally thank outgoing ALRC Commissioner, the Hon Justice John Middleton AM, for his significant contributions to law reform. Justice Middleton was first appointed as a part-time Commissioner in 2012 and has provided invaluable expertise and guidance to numerous ALRC Inquiries over the last ten years.

This annual lecture celebrates the law reform legacy of the Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG both as the inaugural Chairman of the ALRC and as one of Australia’s leading jurists.
