Reminder: Submissions due in 3 weeks
The ALRC is very appreciative of the input that we receive from our dedicated stakeholders and we want to remind you that submissions in response to the Discussion Paper, released on 12 December last year, are due by 27 February 2017. Feedback from the community on our proposals is crucial to our process for finalising our recommendations and will ensure that our law reform proposals are practical, achievable and will deliver the intended benefits. We take this opportunity to thank everyone for their submissions to this inquiry.
The Discussion Paper contains 43 proposals for law reform, on which we are seeking feedback from the public. Key reforms are suggested in the areas of Powers of Attorney and Enduring Documents, the role of the public guardian and public advocates, aged care and in social security.
Submissions can be made online or via email.
During this submission period, the ALRC is continuing consultations and is conducting meetings in Sydney, Hobart, Perth and Melbourne over the next few weeks. Members of the ALRC presented on our proposals to the Independent Agencies for Older Australians and will be presenting at the next meeting of the Aged Care Quality Council meeting in Tasmania.
The Final Report is due to the Attorney-General at the end of May 2017.
