Dr Godwin’s leadership secured for Inquiry duration

The Australian Law Reform Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Andrew Godwin as Team Leader and Special Counsel for the remaining term of the Financial Services Legislation Inquiry. Dr Godwin will support the ALRC President Justice SC Derrington and the ALRC’s part-time Commissioners Justices Middleton and Colvin in leading the inquiry. The appointment of Dr Godwin follows his fixed-term secondment (Dec 2020 – June 2021) from Melbourne Law School.

The ALRC wishes to thank Melbourne Law School and the Dean Professor Pip Nicholson for endorsing the initial secondment, along with their continued support of the Commission.

The knowledge and leadership of Dr Godwin have been invaluable to the ALRC’s current review. His expertise in corporate practice and academia have provided an essential foundation for the evidence-based approach necessary for effective law reform.

The ALRC will deliver interim reports on the review of corporations and financial services regulation in November 2021, September 2022, and August 2023, with the final report and recommendations due to be provided by 30 November 2023.
