ALRC website privacy statement
In accordance with the guidelines for federal government world wide web sites issued by the Australian Privacy Commissioner, the Australian Law Reform Commission provides the following privacy statement.
Site visit data
The ALRC's Internet service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes - the user's server address, the user's top level domain name (such as .com, .gov, .au, .uk), the date and time of the visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited, and the type of browser used.
This is a cookie free site. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the Internet service provider's logs.
E-mail management
The Australian Law Reform Commission will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will only be added to a mailing list upon your request. We will not use your e-mail address for any other purpose, and will not disclose it to others without your consent.
Please note that when you contact the Commission via e-mail the content of your e-mail as it is transferred across the Internet may not be secure. If you have a concern about the security of your message you are advised to contact the Commission directly by telephone, facsimile or post.
The Australian Law Reform Commission website is hosted by the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII). AustLII has its own privacy policy, which is consistent with guidelines for federal government world wide web sites issued by the Australian Privacy Commissioner.
