Personal Property Securities (ALRC 64)

On 8 June 1990, the Australian Law Reform Commission was directed to review federal and other Australian laws relating to the creation and enforcement of security interests in personal property.

In carrying out this review the ALRC was directed to work with the Victorian, Queensland, New South Wales and New Zealand Law Reform Commissions who were also conducting reviews of this area.

A Discussion Paper Personal Property Securities (DP 52) was released in 1992 and the ALRC's final report, Personal Property Securities (ALRC 64), was tabled in federal parliament on 27 May 1993.

There has been no implementation to date of the recommendations made in ALRC 64.
