Multiculturalism and the Law (ALRC 57)

This inquiry into multiculturalism and the law began in August 1989, and concluded with the tabling of the final report ALRC 57 in federal Parliament in April 1992.

During the course of the inquiry, several consultation papers were released: Multiculturalism and the Law (Issues Paper 9) in 1990; Multiculturalism: Family Law (Discussion Paper 46); Multiculturalism: Criminal Law (Discussion Paper 48); and Multiculturalism: Consumer Contracts (Discussion Paper 49), all in 1991.

There has been substantial implementation of the recommendations made by the ALRC is this report.
