Enduring Powers of Attorney (ALRC 47)

On 24 February 1984, the Australian Law Reform Commission was asked by the federal Attorney-General to conduct a law reform program for the Australian Capital Territory. Where reform of a law was possible without extensive investigation, the ALRC could proceed to investigate and report on the law without a further specific reference.

In 1987, as part of the ALRC's investigation of powers of Attorney in the ACT, a consultation paper, Community Law Reform for the Australian Capital Territory: Enduring Powers of Attorney (Discussion Paper 33) was released.

The final report, Enduring Powers of Attorney (ALRC 47), was tabled in federal parliament on 6 April 1989.

There has been substantial implementation of its recommendations.
