Contempt (ALRC 35)

The reference to review contempt laws was received in April 1983.

As part of the inquiry the Australian Law Reform Commission published one Issues Paper, Reform of Contempt Law (IP 4) in 1984, and three Discussion Papers, Contempt and Family Law (DP 24) in 1985, and Contempt and the Media (DP 26) and Contempt: Disruptions, Disobedience and Deliberate Interference (DP 27), both in 1986.

The final report, Contempt (ALRC 35), was tabled in June 1987. There has been partial implementation of the recommendations contained in ALRC 35.
