ALRC Freedom of Information comments form
This online form allows you to send the ALRC any comments you may have on the Freedom of Information Inquiry.
Before you start, the following material may be helpful:
- the Terms of Reference for the Inquiry;
- information on the ALRC’s previous report on Freedom of Information Open Government: A Review of the Federal Freedom of Information Act 1982 (ALRC 77, 1996)
- the Attorney-General’s Department home page on Freedom of Information; and
- the report of the Commonwealth Ombudsman’s own motion investigation into administration of the Freedom of Information Act
Your comments to the Inquiry may remain anonymous, if you wish.
However, if you wish to have your comments treated as a formal submission, then you must provide us with your name and contact details. You can also choose whether you would like to receive regular updates on the progress of the Freedom of Information Inquiry via email, and whether you would like to receive free copies of consultation documents as they are released.
In the absence of a clear indication that a submission is intended to be confidential, the ALRC will treat the submission as non-confidential.
This online form is not the only way of making a submission to the Inquiry. If you prefer—or if your comments are lengthy—you can make a submission by sending us a separate document by email or mail. Further information is available in the ‘Making submissions' section of our website.
